Logo

This is my logo I choose to do a ribbon because that represents awareness. I researched logos and found out what the different colours mean. Red is Aids awareness, Pink is breast cancer and blue is eating disorder campaign. I never saw a orange one so I decided to use it.

what colour best suites the post card

I like the red background but not the writing because it clashes with the toilet seat. I like read because it represents danger and bulimia is a very dangerous and serious issue in today’s society and the effects can also have dangerous effects.

I have kept the idea of the red so I used that and added a different colour text. The colour doesn’t quite work out so I will try a different colour.

I kept the read, added a black outline around my toilet seat to emphasise it and to again to imply that it’s a worrying issue. The shot actually looks better with the bold around it. This makes it more eye catching and draws it off the page.

experaments with colours

These are just a few ideas I had for using colour. But thinking about it I’m not sure what colour best suites my campaign. I was thinking about not using any colour and leaving it black and white. The main reason for this is because white represents the idea of the bulimic being anyone e.g. your friend, boyfriend, mother, sister, or even your nephew. I do like the darker colour it contrasts with the silver cutlery and the white plate.

My third image before and after

This is the chosen image for my postcard. I choose this one because the food was clear in this one and I felt that this one had the most effect on me, so I felt it will have a grate effect on my target audience. The mese en scene used was a breakfast theme so people could have a better idea that after a while a bulimic would just throw up after ever meal and doesn’t necessarily have to over indulge them selves with food. I also felt that this B.E.V Shot looking down on the toilet can be interpreted in a way that the “world” is looking down on this because it’s a bad thing.

This is what my original picture looks like after being cut, feathered and rearranged. I also added bold text that I will play around with at the moment the back ground is white and the text is black. With this I will try to follow the same sort of format as my bill bored and postcard so they all look related and can be recognised.

my secound picture and it being edited

This is the chosen image for my bus stop poster. I choose this one because I liked the idea of using a goblet instead of a glass, also my target audience is 18-25 and therefore are legal to drink so then it becomes more appealing to them. It also was a little clearer then others too. I also felt that this MS was the most effective for this so you can see the whole glass and bottle clearly, the audience would also be able to see every think clearly.

My original picture and my edited one

This is the chosen image for my bill board. I choose this one because it was the clearest one and every think was in frame. It also would be the easiest one to edit so I could cut out the plate, knife and folk easily so I could rearrange it and set it out how I want it to be. I also felt that this high angle shot was the most effective because you can look down on to the plate. This shot could also be acting as a P.O.V shot and the audience could be seeing what bulimics see.
This is what my original picture looks like after being cut, feathered and rearranged. I also added bold text that I will play around with at the moment the back ground is white and the text is black. The next step for me to edit the background and text, by experimenting with different colours, to make it have full effect on my target audience.

my photo selection

Today I was selecting my photos, the first photos I started to select was for my bill board. I selected the one that I would find easy to edit and also the one that is focused. Also the framing was the vest on this one.

A few of the other pictures I didn’t use were not in the frame or the composition of the plate and cutlery weren’t in a recognisable format. I did like a few other ideas but didn’t choose them because the other one looked the best suited to my idea.

I also started putting together my bill board on Photoshop. The first thing I learnt was how to use the magnifying glass; I used this to zoom in and out of my image to get a closer look at how to cut out my folk. I then wanted to cut out my plate so I used the marquee tool to go around my plate. I also used the feathering tool which lightened the edge of my plate so I can easily blend it later; I also feathered my folk, spoon and knife. Then I learnt the copy and paste shorthand. I used this to copy and past the spoon that I had cut out. I learnt how to delete layers because I cut out the knife twice so had to delete one of the layer. I also used the magnetic lasso tool so I could cut around the spoon and folk exactly.

some of my pictures i took and why i choose to do them

This is one of my pictures that I took that is going to be used in bill board. This represents vomit served on a plate with knife, flak and spoon. I chose to do this because usually people eat food off a plate then vomit in the toilet, so iv done it in reverse order to get the message across in a shocking way.

This is one of my pictures that I took that is going to be used in my poster. This represents laxatives in a glass with an empty bottle. I chose to do this to show people that over time all of these bad things are getting put into your body. I choose this mese en scene because people usually put water in a glass to then take the laxatives.

This is one of my pictures that I took that is going to be used in my postcard. This represents the main element of a bulimics relationship, a toilet. But rather then vomit being I it I have food. It’s been put here to represent that food ends up in the toilet in all sorts of forms. The mese en scene is a toilet an food in it.

My Pictures and target audance

Today I uploaded my pictures on to the computer. I asked some people from my target audience’s age what they thought; about my pictures and how effective they are. I also got grate feed back on which ones would be best to use so when I pick my pictures I will take this into consideration because they will have the most effect on my audience. I also asked younger and older people what they thought about my pictures and 3 younger and 5 older people picked the same pictures so this means that they are effective to all ages witch is even better. I know my target audience is between 18 and 25 but if I could have an effect on others then this would also be better because even though that is the age that young women are bulimic it can happen to others.

Taking my Photos

Today I had done my photos. My first set of pictures I done were the ones with the laxatives in the glass with an empty laxative bottles. This one I felt went the best. I had the most fun with this and experimented with different glass and different glasses. I also used different angles to show the mese-en-scene. The second set of pictures I took was of the vomit on a plate. I had fun making the vomit. I also had to change the size of the plate due to the fact that not everything was in the frame. The last one was with the food in the toilet. I feel this went the worst; my toilet is small so when I put all the food in the toilet you couldn’t rely see it all. I would like to retake theses ones if I get time to.

Laxatives

I began to research laxatives to find out the causes and to see what they look like. With taking my picture I need 2 know what laxatives look like so my pictures can look realistic to my audience.

Laxatives are used drugs taken to induce bowel movements, most often taken to treat constipation. Often, taking powerful laxatives can cause diarrhea, accompanied by massive flatulence attacks, due to the overworking of the bowels. They will have no direct effect on a person's weight, because they do not work on the digestive system between the mouth and the small intestines where food is absorbed. Laxatives are often abused by people with eating disorders, and those persons who feel good after having a bowel movement. Laxative abuse is potentially serious since it can lead to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and other problems.
There are several types of laxatives, listed below. Some laxatives combine more than one type of active ingredient to produce a combination of the effects mentioned. Laxatives may be oral or in suppository form.

resurch on logos

These are some different logos that are anti-something. These are all bold and state the message clearly. From looking at theses different logos I have come to a design to try and incorporate a picture with words. I have a few ideas and now i am going to see how they look on paper.

Diffrent camra angles

B.E.V High angle shot Low angle shot
Here are three examples of my chosen camera angles.
The different types of angles I have chosen to use for all my images are High Angle Shots, Low Angle Shots and B.E.V. I will do this for all of my images because I want them all to have the same consistency, and all of them to relate in different ways.

I have chosen to use a high angle shot so I can show my image has the feeling that its below every think else. In a way I want my images to look like they’re important but not that important that it takes over peoples lives, because it is anti bulimia campaign after all.

I have chosen to do a low angle shot because for some of my images a high angle shot may not work and I could make my image look longer, witch could show the significance that it has on people. It can become the centre of there life and what it evolves around.

I have chosen to try out B.E.V simply because some images may come across with a better understanding if the whole image was seen equally. And each prop would be significant to the other.
